About this Piece

This graphite drawing by Bob Anderson is typical of his surrealistic figures that seem to morph and crowd together in a manner that calls to mind Hieronymus Bosch.

About the Artist

Bob Anderson was a prolific artist and highly-esteemed art lecturer at UT Austin until his death in 2009. Bob was a consummate drawer as well as printmaker. His practice was to to make highly detailed drawings using graphite pencils combining intense detail and uninhibited fluidity to create scenes that are both classical and fantastically futuristic. The intricate small-scale tableaus are windows into vaguely familiar spaces where growth and decay are balanced with a masterful sensitivity.
