About this Piece

Anderson working in a similar manner as Hieronymus Bosch with subject matter and method that harkens to the surrealists of the early 20th century.

About the Artist

Bob Anderson was a prolific artist and highly-esteemed art lecturer at UT Austin until his death in 2009. Bob was a consummate drawer as well as printmaker. His practice was to to make highly detailed drawings using graphite pencils combining intense detail and uninhibited fluidity to create scenes that are both classical and fantastically futuristic. The intricate small-scale tableaus are windows into vaguely familiar spaces where growth and decay are balanced with a masterful sensitivity.
