About this Piece

Many Texas Regionalist works have surreal aspects to them. The lady in the blue chair seems to have read a letter and is now in a dreamlike state. The drapes on the outside of the opening and the gate that seem so be holding back the water beyond seem to portent an impending flow of emotions.
