About this Artist

Robert D. Cocke explores the infinite possibilities that clouds the present to us, as catalysts for our imagination, as conveyors of mood, and as harbingers of the weather. Cocke's landscapes are inventions, constructed from memories and the painting process. Of his work, Cocke says, "Synthesizing the images, rather than working from a directly observed scene, allows me the freedom to manipulate the formal elements, to create a parallel world that is a kind of distillation of my thoughts and experiences in this one. I want my work to serve as a reminder that there is a bigger, deeper, and more mysterious realm out there beyond the urban, technological world that most of us inhabit."
